PATRICIA NOLZ & FLORIAN BOESCH at the Grafenegg Festival

With a programme ranging from Baroque drama to classical passion, Grafenegg will be making a striking contribution to the autumn festival season on 6 September. In the auditorium, mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz and bass-baritone Florian Boesch will join forces with Concentus Musicus Wien with Stefan Gottfried conducting. They will present a selection of Handel arias, some of them being Mozart’s own arrangements. These pieces include lyrical gems such as ‘Verdi prati’ from Alcina, the virtuoso jubilant aria ‘Dopo notte’ from Ariodante, and the revenge aria from Handel's Alexanderfest. The second part features Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor, a work full of drama, tension and emotional depth that contrasts richly with the Baroque arias.

Patricia Nolz captivates with her warm timbre and elegant phrasing, which finely illuminates Handel's melodic richness. Florian Boesch, who recently enjoyed acclaimed success as Saul in Dresden, brings dramatic power and psychological depth to the arias with his distinctive, rhetorically honed voice. Together with the transparent sound of the Concentus Musicus, the result is an interpretation that combines historical accuracy and immediate expressiveness.

In conversation with the Grafenegg Festival, Florian Boesch offers exciting insights into his artistic work and his special relationship with the Concentus Musicus – he will also share his playlist with you!
