THOMAS QUASTHOFF with Jazz Concerts in Germany and Austria

May 2026 is all about jazz for Thomas Quasthoff. Together with long-time musical companions, he presents programmes that move effortlessly between improvisation, the American songbook, and baroque influences — shaped by musical curiosity, stylistic diversity, and a uniquely personal atmosphere.

On 23 May, Thomas Quasthoff returns to his hometown as part of Jazztime Hildesheim. Together with Shawn Grocott (trombone), Wolfgang Meyer (guitar), and Simon Oslender (keys), he will create an evening at the Theater für Niedersachsen dedicated to jazz, improvisation, and musical conversation.

Just a few days later, Thomas Quasthoff appears at the International Baroque Festival at Melk Abbey. While the festival is rooted in baroque music, it is especially renowned for concerts that place baroque traditions in dialogue with other genres — this year, with jazz. Under the fitting title “OffRoad Baroque – From Handel to Jazz,” the Quasthoff Trio, together with Wolfgang Meyer and Shawn Grocott, bridges baroque soundscapes with spirituals and songs of the 20th century. Arrangements of music by George Frideric Handel meet works associated with Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder, exploring the fascinating question: what connects Handel and jazz?

The tour continues on 27 May to Bad Schönau, where the Quasthoff Trio will present their celebrated jazz programme “Meeting Friends.” At its heart lies the joy of musical exchange and the pleasure of making music together.

The final stop of the tour offers audiences a particularly personal encounter with Thomas Quasthoff. As part of the “Triad ganz privat” series at the gourmet restaurant TRIAD, he will speak in an intimate setting about formative experiences, important encounters, and milestones of his artistic journey. Guests will also enjoy a menu prepared by host and chef Uwe Machreich — naturally featuring Quasthoff’s favorite dishes.

With these diverse projects, Thomas Quasthoff once again reveals himself as an exceptional musician and captivating storyteller who continues to inspire audiences far beyond genre boundaries.
