THOMAS EBENSTEIN debuts as Mime in Wagner's Siegfried at Bern Theatre

In addition to his appearances at the Vienna State Opera, where he is a member of the ensemble and where he was most recently heard as Aegisth in Elektra, Thomas Ebenstein is increasingly making guest appearances as a sought-after character tenor in Wagner's works, with the role of Mime in Das Rheingold and Siegfried playing a central role. Having already appeared as Mime in Das Rheingold under Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as well as - as part of the Ring project in historically informed performance practice initiated by Concerto Köln and the Kunststiftung NRW - under Kent Nagano, he is now making his house debut at the Bern Theatre as the Mime in Siegfried.

Polish director Ewelina Marciniak is continues her exploration of the grand narrative of the Nibelung myth, which she began in Bern with Das Rheingold and Die Walküre and which, as with the first two parts, will also be musically directed by Nicholas Carter.
