PATRICIA PETIBON & GEORG NIGL in Mozart's "Così fan tutte"

The production of Mozart's Così fan tutte, directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov, was already shown at the festival in Aix-en-Provence last summer. This love experiment with an uncertain emotional outcome is now back on the programme at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. In this interpretation of Mozart's multi-layered opera, Dmitri Tcherniakov takes us through a therapy session. The tactful duo Despina and Don Alfonso - played by Patricia Petibon and Georg Nigl - want to know exactly what’s what and so invite two couples to join them. The experiment, intended to find out how strong feelings can be, and whether love or jealousy still burns, ultimately ends in tragedy.

Georg Nigl stands in a class of his own as an actor. With his expressive, colourful baritone, the performer is always a guarantee for a very special opera experience. Patricia Petibon is in no way inferior! You know what to expect when she steps onto an opera stage: captivating musical theatre full of eroticism and radiance. She welcomes every challenge and is no stranger to extremes when it comes to the truth as a whole.
