JAN PETRYKA in Vienna and Zurich

Two exciting projects await the Austrian-Polish tenor Jan Petryka this October.

The first is Joseph Haydn's The Creation in the Great Hall of the Vienna Musikverein under the direction of Martin Haselböck and his Wiener Akademie orchestra, which will be performed as part of the concert series ‘Musikverein: Perspectives’ concert series curated by Austrian Nobel Prize-winning physicist Anton Zeilinger. Anton Zeilinger's introductory discussion with Martin Haselböck and artistic director Stephan Pauly is also dedicated to nature and creation as beauty in music and physics. Jan Petryka takes on the tenor role in the subsequent performance of Haydn's world-famous oratorio, alongside Theresa Pilsl as Gabriel/Eva and Florian Boesch as Raphael/Adam.

The following project with the Zürcher Sing-Akademie and the Orchestra La Scintilla under the direction of Florian Helgath, on the other hand, is dedicated to Anton Bruckner, the musical regent of 2024. On two consecutive evenings in the Französische Kirche in Bern and in Zurich's Tonhalle, his Mass in F minor will be performed as an impressive example of Bruckner's unique personal style, which is characterised by monumental sound architecture and deeply felt religiosity. The high-calibre quartet of soloists is completed by Jan Petryka, Elsa Benoit (soprano), Anke Vondung (alto) and Krešimir Stražanac (bass).
