DAVID STEFFENS | Ochs auf Lerchenau / Rosenkavalier an der Berliner Staatsoper

David Steffens is certainly one of the most interesting basses of the younger generation and about to start a very promising international career. As a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, he has been able to widen his repertoire with a considerable range of different roles and is gradually becoming a constant fixture when it comes to casting the "German" fach in particular.

After the Hunding in Richard Wagner's Walküre and the Fafner in Siegfried, it is currently the role of Richard Strauss' Baron Ochs auf Lerchenau in Der Rosenkavalier that currently stands in the focus, and which will also mark his house debut at the Berlin State Opera from 16 April onwards. As one of the most extensive and demanding roles in the entire opera literature for bass, Ochs is a real challenge not only because of its length - vocal versatility and distinctive acting skills are just as much in demand as the idiomatic savouring of dialectal nuances, which should not be difficult for the bass native from Bad Reichenhall in Bavaria. Join us and look forward to the Berlin role debut of David Steffens!
