DAVID STEFFENS gives his first solo recital at the Schubertiade in Hohenems

Having appeared in two ensemble recitals at the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, the German bass David Steffens is now making his first solo recital at the Markus-Sittikus-Saal in Hohenems. In mid-March, he gave a highly acclaimed role debut in a new production of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde in Lille, conducted by Cornelius Meister, and this summer he will appear as Kaspar in Der Freischütz on the lake stage of the Bregenz Festival. Accompanied by Ammiel Bushakevitz at the piano, he will perform songs by Franz Schubert - including classics such as "Der Zwerg" D 771 or "Grenzen der Menschheit" D 716 and "Prometheus" D 674, which break the usual boundaries of the lied gerne - as well as Brahms' elegiac-archaic late work "Vier ernste Gesänge" and Richard Strauss' "Drei Gesänge nach Gedichten von Friedrich Rückert" op. 87.

The recording of this recital will also be broadcast on 24 May at 19:30 as part of the "Das Ö1 Konzert" series.
