"Carmina Burana" are about. Carl Orff took the Latin and Middle High German texts from a collection of songs and dramas from the 11th and 12th centuries and set them to music anew. For this composition Orff recurred to stylistic features of the Middle Ages such as bordun-accompaniment and the use of church modes.
Orff's Opus Magnum will be performed in Wilhelm Killmayer's arrangement for soprano, tenor, baritone, mixed choir, boys' choir, two pianos and percussion can be heard at the Großer Saal of the Wiener Konzerthaus – along with the Austrian soprano Elisabeth Breuer, Christoph Filler will take on the baritone soloist part in Orff's timeless masterpiece.
