The Austrian baritone Adrian Eröd, highly regarded for his interpretative versatility, appears in the Wagner repertoire primarily as the town clerk Sixtus Beckmesser in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, which he also performed with great success last spring at the Tokyo Spring Festival and at the Semperoper Dresden (the latter under Christian Thielemann). Lesser known is the baritone's confident portrayal of the Loge in Wagner's Das Rheingold, which he proved last year at the premiere of the Ring in Budapest. As the only guest soloist of the evening and accompanied by ensemble colleagues and the orchestra of the Hungarian National Opera under János Kovács, Adrian Eröd sings the cunning God of Fire in the production by Géza M. Tóth, which is enriched with visual projections, on 9 and 16 November.
