OLIVIA VERMEULEN at the Holland Festival

Before making her house debut at Zurich Opera House as Cherubino and then taking part in Vivaldi's Il Giustino at the Berlin State Opera at the beginning of the upcoming season, Olivia Vermeulen will be one of the soloists in Philippe Manoury's opera Kein Licht at Amsterdam's Muziekgebouw on 24, 25 and 26 June as part of this year's Holland Festival. Based on a text by the Austrian literature prize winner Elfriede Jelinek and staged by Nicolas Stemann, this "think play" premiered in 2011 addresses human life in the face of technology and the unconditional belief in its controllability. A mixture of acoustic and digital sounds, Kein Licht also explores and opens up new forms of music theatre.
