Manuel Walser is an excellent interpreter of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Also, he’s a passionate lied singer and thoroughly enjoys the dramatic creative power of oratorios.
I am impressed by his inner, concentrated calm - he interprets genuinely, authentically and without any airs and graces. When he brings Bach on stage – as he did recently – with the ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon, it’s a logical consequence. Because everyone is concerned with the sheer expressiveness of these masterpieces.
The next stops in Manuel Walser's calendar are a recital about love with songs by Brahms, Rachmaninov and Richard Strauss, and a tour with Beethoven's Missa Solemnis conducted by Jordi Savall.
