Florian Boesch is one of the most distinguished Lied interpreters of our time - a singer who impresses with his nuanced expressiveness, clever choice of programme and charismatic stage presence. This summer takes him on an impressive musical journey through Europe, where he once again demonstrates his versatility and his unmistakable approach to lied performance.
In Salzburg, Boesch will perform an extraordinary version of Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin together with the music band Franui from East Tyrol. The co-operation with FRANUI promises a musical-theatrical reflection of this song cycle, in which classical romanticism and alpine sound art intertwine - a poetic experiment between tradition and transformation.
As part of the renowned Edinburgh Festival, Boesch is organising a song matinée that gives him the opportunity to develop his art in an intimate setting. With a keen sense of language and musical structure, he and pianist Malcolm Martineau open up the depth and diversity of the romantic lied to the audience.
In Vilabertran, a Mecca of Lied singing in Spain, Boesch interprets Schubert's Winterreise. With his haunting interpretation and profound narrative style, he brings the existential core of this masterpiece to light - a spiritual expedition through the barren landscape of loneliness.
To round off this intense summer, Boesch and the young pianist Andreas Fröschl will be performing Ernst Krenek's rarely performed Reisebuch from the Austrian Alps at the Kirch.Klang.Festival on Lake Attersee. With sharp irony and intellectual wit, he explores not only geographical but also spiritual terrain - a highlight for connoisseurs and new audiences alike.
