FLORIAN BOESCH on tour with Beethoven's 9th Symphony and a recital in Frankfurt

Florian Boesch begins the Beethoven Year on tour with the London Symphony Orchestra. The programme features Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, a highlight of western music history; it is juxtaposed here with Berg’s Lulu Suite. Sir Simon Rattle, the orchestra’s chief conductor, leads the tour, presenting this world-embracing symphony together with the London Symphony chorus twice at the Barbican in London and then at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden. February ends with Florian Boesch’s first song recital this year, which takes place at the Frankfurt Opera. There, he joins Malcolm Martineau, his piano partner of many years, in a programme featuring Robert Schumann’s Kerner-Lieder as well as selected songs by Hugo Wolf and Franz Liszt on February 25.
