DAVID STEFFENS makes his debut as Ochs auf Lerchenau in Chem

While David Steffens has already appeared at his home base in Stuttgart this season as the Hermit in Carl Maria von Weber’s Der Freischütz, as Conte di Monterone in Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto, as Cesare Angelotti in Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca and as Osmin in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the German bass is now set to expand his repertoire, thanks to a role debut as Ochs auf Lerchenau – another central role of his fach – at the Chemnitz Theatre. The production is conducted by Guillermo García Calvo, the General Music Director in Chemnitz since the 2017/18 season.

David Steffens is currently on tour with the Basel Chamber Orchestra under Giovanni Antonini, performing the roles of Masetto and Commendatore in a semi-scenic version of Don Giovanni which will be presented at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie and at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, among other venues.
