Christiane Karg’s festival summer this year is dominated by the eagerly-awaited new production of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (conducted by Constantinos Carydis and directed by Lydia Steier), in which she embodies Pamina. She is joined by Mauro Peter as Tamino, a tenor who is much in demand internationally today and last appeared in this role at London’s Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. In 2016, he already performed the role of Ferrando in Così fan tutte in Salzburg.
Christiane Karg’s summer in Salzburg is rounded out by a chamber music concert with the Quatuor Modigliani, which focuses on works by Schubert and Mendelssohn arranged for soprano and string quartet by Aribert Reimann.
