Liedstadt Opens in Hamburg! To launch Liedstadt Hamburg, star tenor and festival founder Julian Prégardien, together with a representative selection of artists from the festival opening, offers a glimpse of what audiences can look forward to over the coming two weeks: a rich variety of world-class music, interwoven with texts by the African American writer Langston Hughes, whose poetry runs like a common thread throughout the entire festival.

For this opening concert, Julian Prégardien is joined by an outstanding group of musicians, many of whom will also appear elsewhere in the festival. Among them are baritone Samuel Hasselhorn, pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz, and the wonderfully versatile Bryan Benner. The NDR Vocal Ensemble—synonymous with outstanding ensemble singing for more than half a century—will also take part, alongside pianist, composer, and sound designer Felix Behrendt and pianist Jochen Kilian.

With the NDR Vocal Ensemble, Julian Prégardien (tenor), Samuel Hasselhorn (baritone), Ammiel Bushakevitz (piano), Jochen Kilian (piano), Bryan Benner (guitar, vocals), and Felix Behrendt (sound design).
