German magazine Der Stern described bass-baritone Thomas Quasthoff as ‘the man with the most beautiful voice in the world’. And though a classical singer by training, he’s a musician with remarkable expertise and insights across many musical genres. He brings the same sense of sincerity and unerring good taste to all he performs, whether it’s opera or art song, folk or jazz.

Quasthoff has named his wide-ranging jazz programme For You, because he dedicates it to his listeners, old and new, who have remained committed to his music making, whatever the genre.

He’s joined by an intimate ensemble of three exceptional jazz performers. Dieter Ilg is one of Germany’s most respected bassists and has performed with Quasthoff since 2007. Wolfgang Haffner is the country’s best-known drummer, with a career that extends well beyond jazz, and a technique blending delicacy and power. Simon Oslender is one of the fastest rising stars in German jazz on piano, organ and keyboards.

DIMENSIONEN - "Innerworld"
With her new recital programme "Innerworld", Marlis Petersen takes us from the here and now into the mysterious realm of visions and dreams, into the subconscious of the soul, into the night, where thoughts, wishes and feelings arise. Night and dreams - inner movement - salvation and homecoming, those are the titles of the album’s sections. In addition to some composers already featured on the other CDs, the listener now also finds French masters, with their very own “mouvement intérieur”. Beginning with Schubert, the range of composers reaches well into the 20th century, and it is worth rediscoving some of them entirely. The musical journey leads us into the hidden worlds of existence, directly into the workshop of the soul.
